Laryngectomy Care

For persons whose surgeons recommend a total laryngectomy,  BBIVAR clinicians are prepared with the tools, knowledge, and skills required to provide care and counseling in conjunction with the patient’s surgeon. Specialists at BBIVAR work with individuals to determine the best options for communication following total laryngectomy surgery. Once the surgery is complete, your clinicians will help you become proficient in the communication options that are best for you. For those patients who use TEP with indwelling voice prosthesis to produce voice post-operatively, TEP evaluation, management, and change of indwelling voice prosthesis are performed by our expertly trained clinicians. Evaluation and training for electrolarynx use is also offered. Training and education for the patient and designated care partner are an integral part of follow up care.
