Dan Croake, M.M., Ph.D., CCC-SLP is a voice pathologist at The Blaine Block Institute for Voice Analysis and Rehabilitation with expertise in evaluation and treatment of voice disorders and specialty training in treatment/rehabilitation of the professional singing voice. Additionally, Dr. Croake treats patients with swallowing disorders, upper airway disorders, and issues related to head and neck cancer.
Dr. Croake earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Kentucky under the mentorship of Dr. Joseph Stemple. He also has a master’s degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Ohio University, and certification in Vocology from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Croake’s main research focus uses dynamic systems theory as a model to understand how individuals use their body structures differently to produce both normal and disordered voicing patterns. This research is envisioned to lead to development of personalized voice treatments tailored specifically to an individual’s physiologic deficits causing a voice problem akin to the concept of precision medicine. Dan also works with animal models to study laryngeal muscle ultrastructure and muscle adaptation.
